Finding Strength in Surrender: A Pastor’s Insight

From my walk as a born-again child of God, and in my calling as a Pastor/Evangelist, I have come to know by experience—not theory—that true obedience to the manifest will of God is the only ground where the soul can truly stand in peace. I have seen what happens when a life is surrendered fully to Jesus Christ, and I have also witnessed the inner collapse that follows when the heart resists Him. There is no middle place where the spirit of man can remain stable without submission to the Lord.

In my own journey, I have learned that the call of Christ is not a suggestion but a holy invitation into death to self and life in Him. The Word became real to me in ways that cannot be fully explained in human language. “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me” (Matthew 16:24) was no longer just scripture on a page—it became a daily altar where my own desires had to bow before the will of God.

I have walked through seasons where the weight of ministry and spiritual responsibility revealed just how fragile human strength truly is. Yet in those moments, the Lord taught me the mystery of surrender. “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me” (Galatians 2:20). This truth has shaped my life as a shepherd among the flock, reminding me that I am only a vessel, and that all true life flows from Christ alone.

As I have been sent to minister to others, especially through The Gathering Place Houston fellowship, I have seen how the world system presses upon the soul—confusion, anxiety, and spiritual fatigue seeking to draw people away from the simplicity that is in Christ. Yet I have also witnessed the transforming power of the renewing of the mind. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2) has become a living reality in the lives of those who yield to Him.

There is a continual learning in my walk: the less of self that remains, the more of Christ is revealed. I have had to learn this not only in preaching but in private surrender. “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30) has echoed in my spirit as both instruction and correction, shaping how I lead, how I serve, and how I live before God.

Even as I guide others in faith, I myself remain a student of trust. The Lord has proven again and again that leaning on human understanding leads only to limitation, but trusting Him brings divine direction. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5–6) has carried me through decisions, burdens, and assignments that were far beyond natural ability.

I have come to understand deeply that without Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the human heart is vulnerable to fear and unrest. But in Him, there is a peace that anchors the soul beyond circumstance. This is not a philosophy I preach—it is a life I have lived and continue to live.

And so I call others, as one who has been called myself, to come into this surrendered life of obedience and truth in Christ. If you are seeking prayer, fellowship, or spiritual covering, I encourage you to reach out through The Gathering Place Houston Contact Us page, where we stand ready to pray, guide, and walk with you in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ.

May every soul be drawn away from the fading noise of this world and into the everlasting reality of Christ’s Lordship—where surrender becomes strength, obedience becomes freedom, and life in God becomes the true inheritance of those who believe.
