Giving at The Gathering Place Houston
At The Gathering Place Houston, we honor giving as an act of worship—a sacred response to the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord God Almighty. Everything we have flows from His hand, and in return, we give not out of pressure, but מתוך gratitude, reverence, and love.
We believe that giving is to be led by the Spirit and shaped by the measure in which each believer has been blessed. The heart posture matters more than the amount. As it is written:
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)
In this house, we teach the truth of Scripture with clarity and integrity. The principle of the tithe—giving 10%—was established under the Old Covenant as part of the law given to Israel. However, under the New Covenant through Jesus Christ, believers are no longer bound by the law, but are led by grace, generosity, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
This means our giving is not limited to a fixed percentage, nor is it driven by obligation. Instead, it flows from a willing heart—one that seeks to honor God, support His work, and bless others freely. Some may give less, some may give more, but all are called to give in faith, sincerity, and obedience to the leading of the Lord.
We encourage every believer to seek God personally in their giving. Let it be intentional. Let it be joyful. Let it be sacrificial when led. And above all, let it reflect a heart that trusts in God as the ultimate provider.
For the Lord sees not just the gift—but the spirit in which it is given.
