Kingdom Within: The Mark of the Truly Chosen and the Power of
the Indwelling Word

By Pastor/Evangelist | Robert M. Thomas, Jr | The Gathering
Place Houston

There is a reality I’ve come to understand deeply within my own walk with
God—true Kingdom education is not something learned outwardly first, but
something awakened inwardly. It is the living, active Word of God taking its
rightful place within the heart of a truly born-again believer. As it is written,
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged
sword…” (Hebrews 4:12). This Word does not merely inform us—it transforms
us, governs us, and establishes God’s standards within us without
compromise.

When a man or woman is truly born from above, as Jesus declared, “Except a
man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3), something
irreversible takes place. The Kingdom of God is no longer something they are
striving to reach outwardly, but something that has taken residence within
them. Jesus made this clear when He said, “The kingdom of God is within
you” (Luke 17:21). This truth reshapes everything. It shifts desires, breaks
attachments, and exposes the emptiness of worldly pursuits.

I’ve seen and experienced that those who carry this inward Kingdom reality
are no longer bound by the same hunger that drives the world system. Money,
status, recognition—these things lose their grip. Not because they are
inherently evil, but because they are no longer the source. Scripture confirms
this transformation: “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the
flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit” (Romans 8:5). A
true child of God, awakened by the Spirit, cannot live sustained by the
illusions of this present world.

There is a distinct separation that begins to take place. Not one of pride, but
one of nature. The life of the Spirit cannot be fully comprehended by those
still governed by the flesh. As it is written, “The natural man receiveth not the
things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him” (1 Corinthians
2:14). This is why the world often misreads, misunderstands, or even resists
those who walk in true Kingdom alignment. Their values don’t match. Their
pursuits don’t align. Their peace doesn’t make sense.

These are the ones I recognize as the truly chosen—those who have yielded
completely to the authority of God’s Word within them. They are not
performing righteousness outwardly while living in inward compromise. They
are anchored, submitted, and governed by Kingdom principles that transcend
cultural systems and worldly expectations. Jesus described them plainly: “If
ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed” (John 8:31).
Continuance—not performance—is the evidence of truth.

The world system notices them, not because they are loud, but because they
are different. They don’t chase what others chase. They don’t bow to what
others bow to. As it is written, “Love not the world, neither the things that are
in the world…” (1 John 2:15). This is not a rejection of people, but a rejection
of the fallen system that opposes God. Their lives become a testimony that
something greater is at work within them.

The book of Revelation gives us a powerful glimpse into the identity and
nature of these chosen ones. It speaks of those who are sealed, preserved,
and set apart unto God. “And I heard the number of them which were
sealed…an hundred and forty and four thousand” (Revelation 7:4). These are
not merely symbolic figures, but a representation of a people marked by
divine ownership. They belong to God, and His name is written upon them.
Again, it is written, “These are they which were not defiled…for they are
virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth”
(Revelation 14:4). This purity is not just physical—it is spiritual loyalty. They
are not double-minded. They are not divided between God and the world.
They follow the Lamb, who is Jesus Christ, in total surrender. Their lives are
not their own.

What stands out most is this: “And in their mouth was found no guile: for they
are without fault before the throne of God” (Revelation 14:5). This speaks of a
people who have been so transformed by the Word that truth flows from them
without corruption. Their righteousness is not self-produced—it is the result
of complete submission to the Spirit of God.

This is the reality of the Kingdom that I have come to know—not religion, not
performance, not outward form, but an inward reign of God that reshapes
everything. These chosen ones walk through this world, but they are not
governed by it. They carry Heaven within them while standing on earth. They
are living witnesses that the Kingdom of God is not just coming—it is already
here, alive, and manifesting through those who are truly His.
