There comes a time in the life of every true servant of the Lord Jesus Christ when wisdom teaches them not to force divine truth upon those who are not spiritually prepared to receive it.
This is not pride, arrogance, or self-exaltation, but rather an understanding of the spiritual principles established within the manifest Word of God itself. Many people can quote scripture, carry a Bible, attend religious gatherings, and yet still remain spiritually blind to the deeper truths of the Kingdom of God because spiritual understanding is not obtained merely through intellectual effort. Spiritual understanding is revealed through intimacy, obedience, humility, submission, and continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ through the indwelling presence of the Spirit of God.
The Lord Jesus Christ Himself revealed this divine truth when His disciples asked Him why He spoke to the multitudes in parables. Jesus answered plainly in Matthew 13:11, “Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” This statement alone reveals that there are spiritual mysteries hidden from those who remain outside of true fellowship with God. Many desire information, but few desire transformation. Many desire blessings, but few desire surrender. Many want revelation, but refuse repentance. Yet the Kingdom of God is not opened through fleshly intelligence, worldly wisdom, or religious performance. It is opened through submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
The scriptures teach clearly in 1 Corinthians 2:14, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” This is why so many hear the Word of God but cannot comprehend its depth, authority, and spiritual meaning. The unrenewed mind interprets scripture only through the limitations of human reasoning, while the born-again believer who walks intimately with God begins to see beyond the letter into the living reality of divine truth. The Spirit of God unveils what human wisdom can never discover on its own.
This is why true followers of Jesus Christ must learn spiritual discernment and patience. Not every person is ready to hear certain truths. Some are still deeply attached to the systems of this present evil world. Some are still governed by pride, rebellion, lust, greed, self-righteousness, religious traditions, or the opinions of men. The Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated this truth repeatedly throughout His earthly ministry. There were times He openly revealed truth to His disciples, yet concealed it from the crowds because their hearts were hardened. In Matthew 13:13, Jesus declared, “Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.”
There are individuals who can spend years around spiritual things and yet never truly encounter the transforming presence of God because they refuse to fully surrender their lives unto Him. The Kingdom of God requires death to self. It requires humility. It requires repentance. It requires obedience. The scriptures declare in James 4:6, “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” Many desire knowledge without brokenness. Many desire revelation without holiness. Many desire power without submission. Yet the Lord reveals Himself intimately only unto those who seek Him wholeheartedly.
The faithful Chosen Ones understand this spiritual reality because they have learned through suffering, testing, prayer, obedience, and continual fellowship with God that divine truth cannot be forced upon hardened hearts. Even the Lord instructed His servants in Matthew 7:6, “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.” This scripture is not teaching believers to hate people, but rather to exercise wisdom concerning sacred spiritual truth. There are seasons when God Himself will allow people to remain in darkness until they become hungry for truth and willing to humble themselves before Him.
The Apostle Paul also understood that spiritual maturity determines what level of truth an individual can receive. In 1 Corinthians 3:1-2, Paul wrote, “And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal… I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it.” This reveals that spiritual growth is necessary for deeper revelation. Carnality blinds the understanding. Fleshly living dulls spiritual perception. This is why continual fellowship with the Spirit of God is essential for every believer.
Those who truly know the Lord intimately begin to understand that the scriptures are alive. The Bible is not merely a historical book or religious document. It is the living Word of God. Hebrews 4:12 declares, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword.” The deeper a believer walks with Jesus Christ, the more the scriptures open spiritually before them. Verses once misunderstood suddenly become illuminated by the Spirit of God. Hidden truths become clear. Spiritual discernment increases. Conviction deepens. Love for righteousness grows stronger while desire for worldly compromise fades away.
The Lord desires relationship more than religious performance. This is why Jesus declared in John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” The true children of God are not merely hearers of scripture but followers of the Lamb of God. They are continually being taught inwardly by the Spirit of Truth. They seek holiness rather than popularity. They desire obedience rather than worldly acceptance. They hunger for the presence of God more than the pleasures of this temporary world system.
The spiritually mature believer eventually learns not to become frustrated when others reject truth because spiritual blindness cannot be removed by debate, argument, or intellectual persuasion alone. Only the Spirit of God can open the eyes of understanding. This is why believers must pray for people rather than merely argue with them. 2 Timothy 2:25 teaches, “In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth.” Repentance itself is a gift granted by God unto humble hearts.
The Lord also warned that in the last days many would possess outward religion while lacking genuine spiritual power and understanding. 2 Timothy 3:5 describes individuals, “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.” This present generation is filled with religious noise, yet many remain disconnected from true intimacy with Jesus Christ. Many know church culture, but do not know the presence of God. Many know religious traditions, but do not know the voice of the Shepherd. Many know scriptures intellectually, but have never allowed the Word of God to crucify their flesh and transform their hearts.
Yet in the midst of all the darkness, compromise, deception, and spiritual confusion of this present world system, God still has a faithful remnant. These are the submitted Chosen Ones who seek Him sincerely in prayer, fasting, holiness, obedience, humility, and truth. These are they who desire the Kingdom of God above worldly pleasures. These are they who understand that eternal life is not merely about escaping judgment, but about truly knowing Jesus Christ personally and intimately. As Jesus prayed in John 17:3, “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
Therefore, let every reader understand this spiritual truth clearly: there is a difference between reading the Word of God and truly knowing the Author of the Word. There is a difference between religious activity and intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ. There is a difference between outward Christianity and inward transformation through the Spirit of God. The mysteries of the Kingdom are not revealed unto the rebellious, prideful, or worldly-minded, but unto those who humble themselves before the Lord with sincere hearts.
The invitation still remains open today for anyone willing to surrender completely unto Jesus Christ. The Lord is still calling people out of darkness into His marvelous light. The Spirit of God is still drawing hungry souls unto deeper revelation and intimacy. Yet only those willing to deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow the Lamb wholeheartedly will truly begin to comprehend the hidden treasures of the Kingdom of God. As it is written in Jeremiah 29:13, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
