There is a difference between the believer who merely scrolls past the Scripture and the believer who sits with the Scripture. One glances. The other grows. And the Body of Christ in this hour desperately needs saints who will move from casual glancing to intentional, disciplined reading of the Word of God.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” — Hosea 4:6 (KJV)
Notice, saints — transformation in Romans 12:2 does not come by accident. It comes through the renewing of the mind. And that renewing is a process, not a moment. It happens as the manifest Word of God is taken in consistently, chewed on, meditated upon, and allowed to reshape the way you think.
Expository Development
Beloved, you cannot expect to walk in the fullness of your new creation identity while feeding your mind only scraps. The enemy is not threatened by a believer who occasionally reads a devotional post and moves on. But he trembles at a saint who has made it their business to know the Word — not just to feel something from it, but to understand it, to let it renew the mind, to let it become the governing reality of how they think, speak, and live.
Hosea’s warning still echoes today: God’s people are destroyed — not because knowledge doesn’t exist, but because they refuse to pursue it. The Word is available to you, saints. The question is whether you will become a reader of it or remain a stroller past it.
Practical Application
- Set a rhythm, not just a reaction. Don’t wait until you’re in crisis to open the Word. Read consistently, whether you feel like it or not.
- Read to understand, not just to feel good. Ask questions of the text. What is God saying? What does this reveal about His nature?
- Move beyond the post. Devotionals and social media words of insight are meant to point you back to the Book — not to replace it.
- Let it renew your mind, not just inform your day. The goal isn’t information. The goal is transformation — inward reality manifesting outwardly.
Reflection
Ask yourself honestly: Am I a reader of the Word, or merely a passerby? What would change in my thinking, my decisions, my identity, if I gave myself fully to knowing God through His Word?
Closing Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask that You would stir a hunger in Your people for Your Word. Renew our minds according to Your truth. Deliver us from the casual scroll and awaken in us the discipline of the diligent reader. Let Your Word take root, transform our thinking, and conform us to the image of Your Son. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
